Hello Returning and New Members of Tassajara 4-H!   Our first Community Meeting for both our new and returning members will be this Tuesday, Sep 17th at 7pm at the Danville Grange.  Come a bit early to meet or re-connect with club members and leaders!  A couple of notes about this meeting:

1)      Please remember to park in the *back* of the Danville Grange (743 Diablo Rd, Danville), the front parking area is used by the Dance Studio that shares the location.  Thanks!

2)      If you have not done so already, bring your payment ($60 per youth, $25 for adult volunteers, check made out to “Tassajara 4-H”)  as well as a youth or adult medical authorization / health history form for each enrolling member.   For youth, as you will need to submit a signed copy of this form at the first meeting of each Project you in, it is a good idea to make a few copies of the filled-out (but not signed) medical form.  Each copy of the form you turn in at Projects must have an original (not copied) signature.

3)      If you have not done so already, before the Tuesday meeting register your family and enroll each of your youth or adult members for the 2013-2014 4-H year at http://california.4honline.com   Enrollment instructions may be found here.  When you have completed online enrollment, each member should be in ‘Pending’ status (the status will change to Active when fees/forms have been processed).

4)      4-H is for and is run by kids.  At every Community meeting, on arrival all kids should first register their attendance with the Membership Officer at the back of the room..

5)      Please silence your cell phones, and don’t bring them out during the meeting!

6)      At 7pm, parents please meet in the kitchen area for a parent meeting.  The Club Officers will call the youth meeting to order in the main room.

7)      At the end of the formal meeting we will have Project sign-ups.  Projects are planned group activities where kids learn a lot of life skills, in a learn-by-doing mode.  Each Adult Project Leader will introduce themselves and the project they are leading, and talk a bit about the project.  Listen for projects which you think you’ll be interested in participating in.  After the introductions, the kids will be able go to the Project tables that they are interested in, and they and their parents may talk with the Project leaders about the Project, how often and where it meets, and what if there are any costs involved with the project.  Kids may be interested in a number of the projects, but please take into consideration your  schoolwork and outside activities, and make sure you don’t over-commit your time.  Most beginning 4-Hers sign up for only one or two projects (besides the Beginning 4-H project, which they are automatically signed up for) for the first year, then increase the number of projects in the following years.

8)      Before the meeting you can review the list of Projects that Tassajara 4-H is offering this year on our website, go to http://www.tassajara4h.org/projects  and click on the Tassajara 4-H Projects link.

If you have any questions you may contact club leaders Lisa Arbuckle  or  Bob Flores  by clicking on the Contact Us link on our website.

We hope you enjoy your year in 4-H!  See you at the meeting!
